The final day of TechCrunch Disrupt NYC was filled with tons of heavy hitters from the tech world (i.e. Ron Conway, David Karp, Roelof Botha, and Ashton Kutcher) that rounded out 3 inspirational days of conversations, pitching and hacking. I find it amazing how much you can learn from someone else when you just take the time to “LISTEN”. I walked away from the conference invigorated and with a heighten desire to become more versed with ins and outs of the tech world.

Day two of TechCrunch Disrupt was just as exciting as the first. The highlight of the day for me had to be Troy Carter’s talk. He shared some really interesting insights with regard to the start-up landscape and his criteria for determining what ventures to invest in.
I found his POV to be very refreshing because of his focus on investing in dynamic founders. At the of end of the day it comes down to the talent and their ability to handle pressure, make the right decisions in tough spots, and being mindful enough to know when they need help.
Being from the music business, Troy brings a priceless value proposition to the tech sector because success in the music business requires quick decisions, trusting your gut, and a commitment to helping your artist become the best at their craft. I believe it is a perfect correlation to what you find when a VC is investing in a start-up.

All I can do is smile as I look at the cover of this magazine. With all the BS around his trip to Cuba, Jay-Z continues to play chess while everyone is playing checkers. I consider this to be one of the most important covers of his career.
Not so much because he made the Time 100 list, but when you talk about visual media (with respect to people of color) you have to take stock in what this image represents for a whole generation. A generation that just had a dream of making it. This image represents genius, beauty, sacrifice and triumph.
Jay-Z on the cover of Time Magazine for something POSITIVE is a true illustration that the sky is limit. You just have to be fearless, passionate, and a true visionary. Kudos to Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. -LOM

I had a chance to attend a cultivation event last night in Soho that gave visitors a flavor of what to expect from the 2nd annual conference happening in MTL next month. Sounds like a really exciting experience. C2MTL is billing themselves as the “Davos” for the creative and commerce community. Check out their sizzle reel. -LOM
