The Hugo Chavez of RAP – THE GAME..

He hails from Compton…not Caracas….He is the leader of the “LEFT COAST” movement…not the leftist movement….. He is THE GAME!

If you are reading this…it is with the assumption that u know who Mr. Hugo Chavez (click the link) is. Many wonder why I would make such a bold comparison of 2 very different, but oh so similar individuals….

Well cause

  1. I can do that
  2. The Game reminds me of the charismatic leader with his brash talk, in addition to his “us against them” approach to music.
  3. The most important reason y I compare these 2 men is the fact they r both very good students of “the game” (i.e. Chavez-Castro, Game-Dr. Dre)

These men have been able to shake up the world in their respective areas of expertise and take a very fresh approach to get “IT” done.

As I listened to The Doctor’s Advocate, I was immediately taken aback by the raw West Coast hip hop flavor that it exuded from intro to end. All I could do is flash back to ‘93/’94 when YG had Chucks and “Lethal Injection” bumping like it was “The Chronic” album. Honestly, I did not expect The Game’s 2nd effort to be so GOOD. Game truly avoided the sophomore jinx and clearly illustrates why he is the leader of the “LEFT COAST” movement.

What struck a very deep chord with me was the exceptional production on this album. Pundits are quick to point out that Dr. Dre did not produce any tracks on this album, but his fingerprints are all over it. “The Doctor’s Advocate” features production from Scott Storch & Hi-Tek (both proteges of Dre) who more then compensate for the absence of the DOC.

Moreover, the Just Blaze produced “Why you Hate the Game” featuring Nas is a classic hip hop joint that will leave a lot of cats crunchy come Grammy time. The most impressive of all the songs was the Will.I.Am produced “Compton”! Will just continues to amaze me as an artist and producer (check the joint he is doing for MJ). I found this to be the hardest record on the album and a clear indication that West Coast hip hop is alive and kicking.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the light comic relief that The Game and Mr. West provide on their opus “Wouldn’t Get Far”…just straight comedy….lol.. I am sure Miss Guerra and Miss “Don’t Crash My Honda Accord” Ford will love this record. 🙂

“The Doctor’s Advocate” has definitely put the whole music industry on notice that The Game IS A PROBLEM. This young man exudes the confidence, passion, and hungry necessary to be successful in this biz. All you have to do is look at the “One Blood” remix which feats. almost 20 rappers..this kid is focused… Unlike other 38 year old rappers,

The Game(26) understands that hip hop is a young man’s sport and you gotta put your best foot forward to make a true name for yourself.

Now the question is…..Will the Huge Chavez of Rap unseat the incumbent President?

The voters will go to the polls on November 14th and decide.
