I'm hard at work cooking up a couple of curatorial projects and that requires me to look at a lot of art. A huge part of that process includes doing studio visits with artists. I figured it would be fun to share that process with ya'll. Every week or so I'll share with ya'll an artist that I've done a studio visit with. Let me know what you think, especially if you see an artist whose work you really dig.
Over the weekend, I had an opportunity to do a studio visit with visual artist, Heeseop Yoon. Heeseop will be featured the summer exhibition that I'm co-curating with Dexter Wimberly at Mixed Greens. Heeseop's work deals with memory and perception within cluttered spaces. She employs a variety of mediums to investigate these ideas from drawings to full scale installations. As some of you may or may not know, I'll be making my curatorial return this summer, July 11th, 2013 to be exact at Mixed Greens in Chelsea. I'm co-curating an exhibition with my good friend Dexter Wimberly. For those who attended the Young Curators exhibition last summer where I curated the work of Hugo McCloud, you already know what time it is.
The exhibition this summer features new works by a culturally diverse group of emerging female artists aiming to showcase the exciting new ideas that these artists are exploring through their artistic practice. We had our first meetings with the gallery yesterday and I'm really pumped about this exhibition. Stay tuned….. – LOM (@youngglobal)
