Â
New York, NY, Â February 1st, 2011- Ogilvy & Mather New York is pleased to announce The February Show, a group exhibition curated by Jun Lee and Heather Hart, which will open on Thursday, February 17, and remain on view through June 30, 2011. Â The aim of this exhibit is to highlight the diverse perspectives behind the concept of Black History Month. Our thoughts for the show touched upon the idea that this national celebration is an impetus for demanding a more thorough knowledge of our national history, and upon the absurdity that our nation assigns the recognition of Black American Culture to the shortest month of the year.
Â
The exhibition maps artwork across disciplines and aesthetics to represent the complexity of contemporary art. The February Show will present over 25 works, including those of Derrick Adams, Ernest A. Bryant III, Julia Brown, Mike Cloud, Yashua Klos, Simone Leigh, Kambui Olujimi, Jessica Ann Peavy, William Ransom, Loul Samater, Xaviera Simmons, Jeffrey Sims, Shinique Smith, Devin Troy Strother, Marc Andre Robinson, Hank Willis Thomas, Jina Valentine, Paula Wilson and Saya Woolfalk.
Â
Facts:

Â
About Ogilvy Art:
Using its office space as an art gallery is a practice that Ogilvy carries over from its previous space in Worldwide Plaza where works of art hung on the walls of every floor and exhibits changed on a regular basis. Â The agency continues this tradition of supporting the art community in its new space on 636 11th Avenue which was designed to allow it to better accommodate art projects and showcase exhibits.
Â
“We are a company of artists, writers, designers, and creative people who use creativity to drive commerce,†said Tham Khai Meng, Worldwide Creative Director.  “Our employees need to always be looking for inspiration and art is the ultimate medium for new forms of expression.â€
