Just got back from the opening @ the Studio Museum for Lynette Yiadom-Boakye . Lynette has quietly been making news in the art world the last couple of months. I believe this is her first solo museum show & it doesn’t disappoint.
Lynette will be conducting an artist talk on November 11th @ 7PM @ the museum. Make sure you stop by. S/O to KM for copping the piece above. Classic! More information Here. -!YG
I’m still digesting the play, but I walked out of the theater with a big smile on my face. Usually when that happens that tells me something was good. You can’t fight the emotions you feel when your spirit has been moved.
Jeffrey did a masterful job in the role of the libertine Jacques Cornet. Mos brought in some nice balance and @ times satirical relief in his role as Murmur. A Free Man of Color is a heady satire, which intelligently parallels history with the contemporary. If you are going for just pure entertainment, this play is not for you. Watching A Free Man of Color will definitely require some thinking or you will be lost. The play moves with such velocity that if you are not paying attention, you will miss the whole point.
I have more thoughts, but I’m going to digest for a few days & come back with more feedback. I got a couple of flicks, but the quality is pretty shi&&y…. lol! -!YG
S/O to the homey Terrence Jennings who was flicking it up on the red carpet @ the 2010 Hugo Boss Prize at the Guggenheim Museum last week. Check out more photos from the Hugo Boss Prize here.
Really interesting doc about Wodka. -!YG
