YG x For Colored Girls Exhibition Opening @ Lehmann Maupin
I’m on cloud 9 right now. Last night Black Hollywood took over Lehmann Maupin gallery in Chelsea to celebrate the For Colored Girls art exhibition opening. The exhibition features a series of filmed cast portraits, which run about 4 minutes on continuous loop. The portraits are part of the marketing campaign for the film, which hits theaters on November 5th. The NY Times has a great article about this project & the film that you can check here.
It was a pretty heavy room & we all know the highlight was Ms Janet Jackson… OMG! Simply stunning…..
The conflux of art & pop culture as a tool for visual stimulation/communication is creating a refreshing interactive experience for viewers. Some of my friends don’t believe the 2 worlds should mix, but I believe that everyone should be entitled to enjoy art in its various forms.
