Africa Reboots By Bono

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Bono did an op-ed piece in the weekend edition of the NY times. He recently visited the continent & was moving on the ground with Africa’s key power brokers. The piece summed up some of his observations during the trip.

One thing is clear…..the tide is turning in Africa and it is wonderful to see the world finally “waking up” and smelling the fufu. Africa is  a viable option for foreign direct investment (not just aid) and the World Cup in SA this summer will be the pivot point for the continent. My favorite line in this piece:

“Ghana needs support in the coming years, but in the not-too-distant future it can be giving aid, not receiving it; and you, Mr. Bono, can just go there on your holidays.” – Mo Ibrahim
