Bonhams x Keep A Child Alive x Afren PLC – Africa Now Preview
Last night Bonhams, Afren PLC & Alicia Key’s Keep a Child Alive organization hosted a preview of the Africa Now: African Modern and Contemporary auction. It was interesting to see so much African art in one space, but I was little disappointed with the selection of works. I just wasn’t moved by the art that was on display. Maybe it was post-armory week fatigue?
Despite my disappointment, this auction still creates awareness about importance of African art in the contemporary context. More needs to be done to highlight the amazing art coming out of Africa NOW (not 30-40 yrs ago). Check out some of the flicks. -!YG
