Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2)
Last week I had the luxury of sitting in on the listening session for Fat Joe’s latest opus and 9th studio album, “Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2)“. There was a very goonish vibe in the studio that night.. lol! The album is due to drop in April or May of this year.
Joe living in Miami has definitely influenced the type of music that he is making these days. Good or bad it seems like the music is taking a safe route and fitting snuggly into the current Hip Hop landscape. I would have liked to have seen him take some more risk musically, but everybody ain’t gonna pull a Kanye… lol! Joe does have a record that has a Hendrix sample that is nutz… The beat had my face crunchy like Lebron farted.
The fact that Joe is still relevant in 2009 after begininng his career in 1993 has to be commended. With that being said…. there are several stand out tracks that will get some serious radio play Spring/Summer 2009. One of my favorite joints off the album is “One” featuring Akon. Check it out. -!YG
