Diabetes: The hidden epidemic
I met a cat on the train yesterday and we got into a random conversation about Lehman Brothers, God and the meaning of life. Jerry mentioned to me that his brother recently passed away due to complications from diabetes and he was having a tough time coping. I could definitely relate to the emotion, angry and heartbreak that he was experiencing.
Our conversation got me to thinking about my Dad…. who was diagnosed with diabetes at age 40 & eventually succumbed to the disease earlier this year. Diabetes is a serious problem for people of color globally. We often joke about having high blood sugar, but anyone who is diabetic can attest that it is not a joke. There are various ways to manage the disease, but if it is goes undetected… You Are Signing YOUR DEATH WARRANT. Get tested if it runs in your family. -!YG
