Back to Basics for Starbucks
Howard is really going in to save his company. Over the past couple of weeks the issues @ Starbucks have been well documented. What Howard has done is very courageous, especially in such a shaky economic climate. I look at his actions as a true indication of his belief in the vision that he established for Starbucks. If they are able to make it thru this rough patch he will definitely go down as one of the best.
Typically most CEOs try to cover up the root of the real issues. Howard has done what few leaders like to do & that is tackle the problems and attempt to fix them. Starbucks has gotten away from their core competency of serving good coffee & providing a delightful coffeehouse experience. This example is a wonderful lesson in business and in life. Many organizations & individuals lose their way for a myriad of reasons, but it takes a courageous person to acknowledge their mistakes & get back on track.
Now only time will tell if the ubiquitous Starbucks experience still has staying power or will people switch over the a more economical choice. The consumers will decide!-!YG         [CLICK 2 READ]
