250 Million Dollar Man – David Beckham

Beckham is coming….Beckham is coming…..Beckham is coming stateside…. This is something that I’ve been predicting for the past few months. As he approaches the twilight of his career, this is one last opportunity for him to get super paid! The implementation of the “Beckham Rule” paved the way for this landmark deal. Similar to when Pele & Franz Beckenbauer tried to raise the popularity of soccer in the US during the 70’s, Beckham will attempt to take the game to another level. He is the only athlete with the global reach that could garner such a response. If this cat gets a new hair style its front page news, remember when he got cornrows… lol… I have a feeling Rolando will be following Beckham stateside to get his piece of the American Pie.

As a soccer fan, I am pretty excited at the new found interest with soccer in the US. Though Beckham is not as good as used to be, his star power will definitely make an impact. Check out the details of “Golden Balls” deal!

—————————————————————————————

David Beckham is set to become the first modern footballer to have a stake in the football club he plays for – and share in its profits.

“Golden Balls” – as he has been nicknamed by the tabloids – may not have a golden share but he will make money from LA Galaxy, possibly as much as $10m (£5.14m) a year in profits.

Insiders I have spoken to have painted a fascinating picture of the astonishing $250m (£128m), five-year deal he has signed with the Los Angeles team.

  • An annual salary of $10m

  • His existing sponsorship contracts with his four sponsors – Motorola, Pepsi, Gillette and Volkswagen – are estimated to be worth $25m

  • His merchandising shirt sales will bring in $10m

  • His share of the club profits: $10m

Booking a Flight in Three Easy Steps

There are tons of Web sites out there looking for your dollars. Instead of searching all of them, I simply take these three steps in sequence. When I’ve gone through all of them, I know I’ve got the best deal, and I didn’t spend hours to find it.

    1. Surf smart. Your Web browser has a cache, a short-term memory of recently visited sites. If you don’t empty it before you search, you may be looking at an out-of-date Web page and won’t find the best deals available. Look under your File or Preferences menu and select “Empty cache” before you browse.

    2. Use a fare search engine. Instead of constantly flipping between the Big Three travel sites (Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity), go to Kayak.com, which searches 120 travel and airline sites and doesn’t charge any booking fees.

    3. Confirm your price. Once you’ve found your flight, go to that airline’s Web site and search for the same dates and times, just to make sure you’re not missing out on an exclusive deal that’s available only through its site.

    2. Take advantage of Uncle Sam

Make full use of any tax-sheltered accounts that are available to you, such as a 401(k) or IRA. You may get tax breaks on contributions you make and assets in these accounts grow without the drag of taxes each year on capital gains, dividends and other distributions. That gives you a big leg up when trying to grow your nest egg.
