YG VIDEOS OF THE WEEK – Joy Denalane
When I first heard Joy Denalane’s song “Soweto ’76-’06’, I was simply BLOWN AWAY! I always find it refreshing to discover new music, especially in the era of “the 1 hit”. My dude Mr. Squarpants sent me Joy’s record and after listening to it my interested was piqued.
As I read about this Afro-German beauty, I could not help but notice that “Born and Raised” (2006) was her first English album. I was taken aback and decided to dig a bit deeper and excavated a “true” South African diamond. While listening to Joy, all I could do was reminisce about the week I spent in Berlin last winter…..memories…. 🙂
Her songs “Let Go” and “Heaven or Hell” featuring Raewkon the Chef, are eye opening and I’m sure many of my gal pals will appreciate these records. I also added one of her German hits just so you can see that she is the real deal!
