PRODIGY – NEW YORK SH*T
Now I’m not going to front like this is an enlightening music video, but I can respect it.
- One…because this video was shot RAW. For all my Video Music Box (pre-cable) fans, U know what I mean. There was no glitz, no glamour…pretty much this video was shot straight from the gut. This video was shot on the fly….no permits, no half naked chicks, and probably no video treatment either.
- Two….the video is a tribute to NYC Hip Hop…. When I watch this video for some reason it reminds me of why I fell in love with Hip Hop. To see cats on the AVE giving the viewer an authentic (maybe contrived) glimpse into their daily life, encapsulates what Hip Hop is all about. Hip Hop is suppose to be the CNN to the streets.
I’m sure that many of us find the tough talk, weed smoke, and gun flashing to be comedic……( I know I do), but I always find it interesting to watch these videos. U can never discount someone who uses prose as a form of expression. Look out for 38 yr old Tony Yayo ( per Jim Jones ), he has a cameo in the video.
